It wasn’t long before their commotion attracted some visitors. A small pack of Poochyena, lead by a rather large wild Mightyena, soon wandered by. Satoshi would be first to admit that, though not being a fan of Poochyena, was rather fond of those Mightyena. Back at home, he remembered rather clearly, one of his neighbors owned one.

Wild Mightyena
Female
Level 19 >>> 000 / 475 EXP
Dark / Ground
Howl | Bite | Sand Attack | Tackle

The wild Mightyena approached him one paw at a time, slowly and carefully. The small pack of Poochyena that followed didn’t seem to so eager to see who this strange person was. The wild Mightyena didn’t look like the mother of these pups, as it had a strange distance to them. Heck, the Poochyena probably weren’t even puppies, just unevolved. It was then that Satoshi realized he was alone, but it wasn’t a moment too soon when Alexander came scurrying back with a bundle of sticks.

As soon as the Scraggy caught site of the wild Pokemon, he dropped the sticks and instantly took on a fighting stance, ready to defend his trainer. The wild Mightyena saw this as a threat and, lifting its head, howled to the sky. His Scraggy visibly shivered but stood his ground. “Hi jump kick!”

Alexander went running and landed a kick just as the Mightyena jumped out of the way. No direct hit, but the kick landed on the wild Pokemon’s shoulder and made it stagger back a few steps.

Needless to say, the wild Pokemon didn’t take that too well. It howled again into the night, sending the small pack of Poochyena into a flurry of yipping and howling as well, before the wild Mightyena ran at Alexander with its jaws wide open. The Scraggy managed to dodge the first bite, but not the second. The Mightyena grabbed Alexander by the leg and began to shake him around while Alexander fought back with aimed kicks to its now accessible face.

A furious shriek from above made them all freeze. Ransom rather liked dramatic entrances, almost as much as Alexander did. He went diving down at the Mightyena and dug his claws into its back, making quite a noise. He began to peck hard, attacking the wild Pokemon furiously until it let go of Alexander, who launched another hi jump kick without any more command. Alexander and Ransom were, strangely enough, able to work as a perfectly coordinated team even without instruction.

Being ganged up on, the Mightyena began to kick up dirt and dust in a familiar sand attack. The pack of Poochyena had pretty much fled by this point, leaving their pack leader behind. How strange, normally these Pokemon worked in teams. Maybe it was just the Mightyena who formed strong pack bonds while the Poochyena worked alone. It didn’t matter too much at this point; Satoshi had already set his mind to catching this one. He grabbed a plain ball from his bag and waited for something to open up. The Mightyena was obscured by the dust it had kicked up.

“Ransom, use swift!” Ransom flew up into the air, flapping his wings furiously as stars burst from the metal feathers and flew into the dust. A moment later, the Mightyena went flying from the cloud and landed with a hard thud. Alexander ran in now, another hi jump kick and the Mightyena was nearly knocked out. He took it as the perfect moment to throw the pokeball, and the dark type Pokemon was swallowed up by the light.

Tsuki >>> Mightyena
Female
Level 19 >>> 000 / 475 EXP
Dark / Ground
Howl | Bite | Sand Attack | Tackle

The Mightyena barely put up a fight at all, probably too beaten up to struggle. Ransom picked up the ball in his beak and brought it over, gingerly dropping the sphere in his trainer’s open hand. A quick scan with his pokedex revealed the Pokemon was female and her moveset. It wasn’t anything too impressive, but it would do for an untrained Pokemon. Her chest and underside were paler than most Mightyena he had seen, which reminded him of the moon.

“How about I name you Tsuki?” Satoshi smiled to himself. Tsuki it was. He placed the pokeball down next to his bag and turned to his two other Pokemon. “Time to start settling down, no?” He had been put in a good mood, having caught a familiar and potentially strong Pokemon. The fire was lit with the usual stick method and it soon consumed the twigs, creating a warm glow.

It had scarcely been fifteen minutes before there was a familiar rustling in the grass, followed by howls that were too close for comfort. It would have happened anyway, even though Satoshi really didn’t want it to. The pack of Poochyena had made their way back, probably looking for their noble leader. Well it was a little late to pitch in and help. There were five of them in all, gathered around the edges of the clearing the small group had stomped down in the grass. He could tell by their glowing eyes that they were watching.

He doubted the pack had enough guts to make any moves, and if they did, he had Alexander and Ransom to fight them off. They were just a few wild Poochyena, after all. Though Reyes wouldn’t stop whining in his head about him capturing their leader. What would they do now? Who would lead them? What was going to happen to the pack without their leader? On and on and on it went to the point where Satoshi was considering releasing the Mightyena just to get Reyes to shut up.

“Ransom, get them outta here.” Ransom the Skarmory perked up right away, ruffling his metal feathers and creating an awful screech. Alexander glanced up at his trainer, asking if he should go too, but Satoshi shook his head. The Scraggy sat back down near the fire, warming himself against the cold air of the night. Ransom however, stalked off into the grass. A few minutes later there came howls and yelps from the pack of wild Pokemon, alongside almost sadistic screeching from Ransom, who was probably kicking their butts right down the valley.
