Re: Rainy In The Valley
Satoshi was quiet as they hiked down the slope, not too steep as to make it troublesome, but not completely flat either. Alexander made his way nimbly beside him, and Ransom easily flapped his wings and got to where he was going. The valley was alive with the sounds of wild night Pokemon, and one of those out there were bound to bump into the little traveling troupe sometime tonight. Satoshi had made his way to the front of the mind, while Reyes, now the alternate personality, sat back and watched. Reyes didn’t like hiking around at night.
Ransom the Skarmory had picked his way out front, walking in the high grass to make sure nothing crazy was going to jump out and eat them or whatnot. The whole party was quiet tonight, feeling a lot calmer then they had for weeks now. The tournament was ongoing, but right now there had been a lull of entrants which meant less stress on the contestants already entered. There wasn’t such a race to get badges, win contests, defeat pokeathelons and such anymore. Satoshi couldn’t say he didn’t like those aspects, but a nice long walk without fear of bumping into a battle hungry trainer was good on his mental health.
Or maybe he thought too soon. There was an angry screech from Ransom as he kicked something into the air with his tall legs. Satoshi sighed. Maybe they weren’t going to get out of the valley unscathed after all.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
It seemed that whatever his Skarmory kicked was smart and quickly made itself scarce. All Satoshi saw was a retreating little blue tail, scurrying off into the grass before it disappeared entirely. Both his Pokemon looked more than ready to give chase to it, but the trainer decided against it. Really, what use would it do? Alexander saw this in Satoshi and relaxed, letting his arms fall to his sides. Really, Alexander was good at telling what his trainer wanted and didn’t want just by a look. The Scraggy had already explained to their new teammate, Ransom, about their trainer’s identity issue. It was first met with skepticism, but was soon accepted as normal.
They pushed on down the slope of the valley, hoping to set up camp at the bottom and hike over to the other side by the morning. The grass was certainly becoming untamed the nearer they got to the bottom. It has possibly never seen a human before.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
The small team came across a patch of what looked like… Green onions of some sort. When Alexander touched one, it was stiff and stuck into the ground. It probably grew naturally here. However, nobody was expecting a small group of three brown bird Pokemon to come waddling in. They didn’t seem to mind the trio that just intruded; they seemed more interested in the little patch of green and white sticks coming from the ground.
“Farfetch'd, the Wild Duck Pokémon. Using the green onion that it holds like a sword, Farfetch'd can slice through a variety of objects.” His pokedex said in its usual voice as he pointed it at the Pokemon. Using the green onion as a sword? Now that was something strange. What prevented it from breaking? How was it sharp? It didn’t even make sense, but then again, a lot of things didn’t make sense. The three that waddled into the clearing inspected the sticks one by one, probably choosing the best ones to use as their makeshift swords.
Satoshi watched for a little while longer before deciding that was enough of a break and moving on. The hill had gotten steeper now and Alexander was hopping from rock to rock. Ransom had taken to swooping just above their heads and Satoshi had to be careful with his steps. Last thing they needed was an accident.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
Satoshi spotted what looked like a large yellow and brown seed sprout sitting on a rock on their way down. He froze and watched it carefully, but it didn’t make any move at all. Was it even alive? Knowing his luck with seemingly inanimate objects, it probably was. There was the incident with the Spiritomb and the one with that turtle Pokemon thing in the caves, along with a few other accidents and mishaps that had made him wary of anything that looked harmless. He wasn’t exactly looking forward to losing fingers today either. Satoshi wasn’t one for curiosity, unlike his counterpart. With a sigh, he continued on down the hill.
It was half an hour later that they decided to rest. Ransom landed, large claws gripping the dirt as the metal bird landed. Alexander and Satoshi found good footing on some rocks and sat down, resting their tired feet from the hike. Ransom continued to keep watch as he always did, turning his head at the slightest noises. Like Alexander who wore sunglasses, now propped up on his forehead, the trainer had given his Skarmory a little accessory as well. It wasn’t a common thing to do and he didn’t do it with all his Pokemon. Only his favourites got something to distinguish them, harsh as it sounded. Ransom had received a bandana that he wore around his neck. It was simple green camouflage and didn’t cost much, but suited the metal bird none the less.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
It was like a replay of the first day they got into the tournament. As they sat, minding their own business, there was a sudden dark coloured blur that jumped right at them. Only this time he had something to protect him from said crazy blur. Just as it sped towards them, Ransom kicked the thing and sent it flying back into the grass. It came out again a second later and he immediately recognized it, as he had one of his own. Claudine was sitting in the PokeCenter and he wasn’t too sure if she would ever see use again, but this wild Gothita might as well have been his own Pokemon.
Even Alexander stared for a bit. Ransom was actually the Pokemon that replaced his own Gothita on his roster, and so had never met Satoshi’s Gothita. It was a little strange to see, so to speak. The little Pokemon didn’t seem keen on continuing its assault, but waited by to see if the small team of three would react. Ransom ruffled his feathers, making high pitched whistling noises to scare the wild Gothita off. Finally, it seemed to work and the psychic Pokemon scuttled away.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
The quiet peace that settled didn’t last long. It seemed that once a wild Pokemon spotted them, it went running to tell all its little friends that there were strange things in the valley. They’d come swarming and soon enough, Satoshi and his team were up to their knees in both malicious and curious wild Pokemon. This time around he actually recognized the one that wandered up to them. It was blue, black and yellow and resembled a small cub or cat. Shinx, it was called. Though he knew this Pokemon could evolve into something powerful, he didn’t exactly have a need for an electric type at the moment.
The Shinx only seemed to be curious of them and not at all hostile. Satoshi was actually somewhat thankful that they didn’t run into any of the evolutionary family, or else they would probably have been attacked. Luxio and Luxray were known to be rather aggressive. After a little while, seeming satisfied, the wild Shinx skipped off.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
“Okay, let’s keep going.” With a sigh, Alexander jumped to his feet and adjusted his sunglasses. Ransom hopped up into the air, spread his wings and circled above them, waiting to get a move on it. The night air was cool and it wasn’t the heat that killed them, it was the slope of the ground. Speaking of the slope, it was getting very hard to navigate in the dark now. Maybe they should’ve waited for morning to try and cross the valley.
It was the dark that made him nearly trip over what looked and felt like a large pink rubber ball. Thankfully he didn’t go sliding down the rest of the way on his face, but it still gave him a spook anyway. The ball turned to look at them with huge teal eyes that he swore could stare into his very soul. It had stubby little arms and huge feet with a curl of pink hair. He was never exactly a fan of cute Pokemon, but this one wasn’t cute at all, despite it being thought so by the general population. To him, it was plainly creepy with those huge eyes.
The wild Jigglypuff took little interest in them and waddled away.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
The small team continued on, seeing that the bottom of the valley was drawing near. They would make up a camp site there and stay for the night. On their way down, trees began to crop up around them alongside patches of tall grass. On one of the trees grew what looked like fruits, pinkish with green stems and a dark stripe down the middle. Ransom swooped down and landed on a branch of the tree with fruits, seemingly eyeing them hungrily. They had been marching for a while, so some food would do them good. Alexander walked over as well, looking up at the tree. The branches were out of reach and though he could climb them, he didn’t exactly want to because it would require more effort than it was worth.
Ransom plucked one from the tree, but as soon as he did so, it began to wriggle and trash around. He dropped it right on Alexander’s head in surprise. The Pokemon that the Skarmory had just plucked got up and quickly scuttled off. There was a brief pause as Alexander looked rather confused and Ransom eyed the rest of the ‘fruits’ warily. He lifted his wings and flew up into the air again, choosing to forgo food for now.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
There seemed to be no shortage of strange Pokemon in the valley. Next up to greet them was a wild Solosis. They were from Unova, and therefore Satoshi was familiar with them. It was a green squishy blob that was often found in grassy areas to blend in. Again, everybody thought they were cute. To Satoshi, it looked utterly gross. So when one squished its way towards them, he couldn’t help but cringe in obvious discomfort. The sound that thing made grated on his nerves and sent a shiver up his spine.
Unfortunately for him, as he walked away, it squished after him. Reyes was already fawning over the disgusting thing in his head, repeating how it was so cute and how it seemed to like them already and blah blah blah. Satoshi sped up his pace and eventually the wild Solosis was left behind. Damn, that thing was gross and creepy in all the worst ways. Finally, after enduring all that, they reached the bottom of the valley.
The grass was actually shorter down here so Ransom could actually land on the ground. It was mostly quiet and rather nice looking, probably untouched by other humans.

Re: Rainy In The Valley
There was a faraway chirping from somewhere up in the many trees. Probably some wild bird Pokemon that were roosting for the night. Up in some of the trees he could see wild Taillows sitting in their nests or lining the branches. The small team found a nice spot to make camp; a large rock jutted out from the ground at an angle, making a small shelter. They needed a fire going too. Satoshi was regretting not bringing Lysander on this little trip, as he could easily start a fire.
They all set out to find something to put on the fire and Satoshi would have to reply on the flint against flint or sticks method of creating sparks. It was tedious and pretty obsolete, but braving the cold wasn’t very pleasant either. Especially since they were sleeping under the stars tonight, some warmth was essential. His Scraggy didn’t take well to the cold, having come from a hot place and being a reptile. He went about looking for dry grass or twigs. Ransom on the other hand went on the hunt, looking for something to eat. Hopefully he wouldn’t bring back a horribly mauled, half alive Pokemon like last time. That was pretty gross, but where else did meat come from?
